So Mandrake 8.1 isn't the be all, end all either and now I'm not sure where to turn, though I'll download Suse 7.3 today. Mandrake doesn't include many text oriented tools, like PINE and PICO, which I definitely need. And I'm tired of the insane GNOME/Ximian issues, where the shell just doesn't know how to handle common file types (like TAR and GZ files) natively. There's no excuse for that.
