Mac market share
Speaking of the iBook, this article discusses Apple's market share, a piddly 2.4 percent worldwide. Ugh.

iBook
My iBook is in the shop: I dropped it off at New York's excellent TekServe on June 25 to get a new hard drive (30 GB) and have them look at the sticky screen hinge. Turns out the hinge is a huge problem: They had to send it back to Apple because the screen was separating from its containing bezel! Yikes! Anyway, I'll be calling them in a week if I don't hear back by then. I miss my little iBook.

No more Outlook
As I've been telling friends, the Sony is my first step to a no-Outlook future (that's Outlook as in Microsoft Outlook, not as in my personal future, ahem). I'm using Palm Desktop for contacts and calendaring right now (no time zones, grrr...) and, temporarily, Outlook Express for email. Not sure where email will end up eventually. Maybe Mozilla Messenger, but it's slow now and has problems moving messages between an imported folder and the Inbox. Grr....

Bourne Identity
Great book. I'm going to see the movie this weekend and then read the sequels.

Red Hat LIMBO beta is out
I think it's going to be RH 7.4 when completed. I installed it on the big Dell (1600x1200) screen and actually got X going with a little tweaking. Still nervous about trying Wi-Fi after so many failures.

Sony CLIE PEG-T615C
Got this instead of the NR70. It was $200 less, and since I'll never use the NR70's keyboard, it was a steal. High-res screen. Light and small. Not Microsoft. What else could you want? Actually, you could want this. Maybe I'll give the T615C to Steph!
