Red Hat 9
I installed Red Hat 9 yesterday and... wow. The Bluecurve UI hasn't changed much since Red Hat 8.0, but there have been some subtle and not-so-subtle improvements elsewhere in the system, and Linux has really come a long way. It detected all my hardware, except the wireless networking card, on first boot, and even that was easily configured, a first. The fonts mostly look great, even in Mozilla and OpenOffice.org, which is amazing. There are still problems, of course: The Start Here/Preferences/More Preferences/Control Panel/Start menu multiple points of management stuff still needs to be cleaned up big time, for example. But .. wow. It's gotten really mature, really quickly. This is the first time I didn't have to fuss with something. Impressive.
