About this siteFor six years, the Internet Nexus served as my technology blog, but I've since started blogging at the SuperSite Blog instead. If you're looking for the blog, please head there. --Paul Wednesday, May 14, 2003Unreal Tournament coming this fallMy son Mark and I have recently acquired new appreciation for Unreal Tournament 2003 (Unreal 2 still sucks, though I did finish it) and now comes word of Unreal Tournament 2004, due this fall. UT2K4 will include all of the content from UT2003, plus the two free bonus packs that were released for that game, but also a bevy of new features, such as the return of Assault Mode (from the original UT), Onslaught Mode (a new multi-player oriented combat game type on custom-built large-scale maps featuring awesome new weapons and land- and air-based vehicles), live voice chat over LAN and internet with 3D audio, the return of fan-favorite Unreal characters including the Skaarj, the Necris and the infamous Xan Kriegor, 20 new maps featuring tons of new textures, new static meshes and new music, and UnrealTV, a new match broadcast system that will allow hundreds of people to view an UT2K4 match with minimal performance impact on game server. Also, UT2K4 will feature a completely redesigned user interface (UI) that will be easier to navigate and support context-sensitive menus, an in-game login menu (to improve team balancing) and an improved server browser with enhanced server filtering options. The underlying user interface system has been reengineered to be easier for Mod authors to build menus and implement their own UI designs. Sounds good to me! [ Posted at 1:28 PM | Permalink ]
