About this siteFor six years, the Internet Nexus served as my technology blog, but I've since started blogging at the SuperSite Blog instead. If you're looking for the blog, please head there. --Paul Saturday, April 12, 2003Awesome: Web browser archiveI'd never heard of this site before today, but Evolt has an awesome Web browser archive that includes some excellent blasts from the software past. Looking for Mozilla M4? Internet Explorer 1.5? How about Mosaic 4.10 or Netscape 1.22? It's all there, including a few you've probably never heard of. [ Posted at 8:25 PM | Permalink ]
Friday, April 11, 2003Mac OS X 10.2.5 .. EhI don't have much to say about the latest update to Mac OS X, but then that's the way it should be, I guess. But my iMac did crash horribly today for no apparent reason, and the only thing that's changed on that system is that I upgraded to 10.2.5. Hmm.... [ Posted at 4:44 PM | Permalink ] Red Hat 9 I installed Red Hat 9 yesterday and... wow. The Bluecurve UI hasn't changed much since Red Hat 8.0, but there have been some subtle and not-so-subtle improvements elsewhere in the system, and Linux has really come a long way. It detected all my hardware, except the wireless networking card, on first boot, and even that was easily configured, a first. The fonts mostly look great, even in Mozilla and OpenOffice.org, which is amazing. There are still problems, of course: The Start Here/Preferences/More Preferences/Control Panel/Start menu multiple points of management stuff still needs to be cleaned up big time, for example. But .. wow. It's gotten really mature, really quickly. This is the first time I didn't have to fuss with something. Impressive. [ Posted at 4:43 PM | Permalink ]
Thursday, April 10, 2003Apple posts Mac OS X 10.2.5I'm too lazy to get up and install it yet, but Apple has posted Mac OS X 10.2.5, which updates Mac OS X in a variety of ways. Mac OS X 10.2.5 includes a Microsoft mouse- and keyboard-compatible Bluetooth Setup Assistant, improved digital camera support, improved CD burner support, DNS bug fixes, a fix for a data loss issue that could occur when copying certain files to an SMB volume, improved Mail responsiveness, and a number of other improvements. As always, the upgrade is available via Software Updates. Good reading. [ Posted at 12:16 PM | Permalink ]
