Apple recently revealed that it sold 1.236 million computers in its most recent quarter. And IDC and Gartnet chimed in with total PC sales for that same quarter: 54 million units. (Gartner said 55 million units, while IDC said 53 million, so that's the average of the two.) That means that in a quarter in which Apple reported dramatic 48 percent growth, it commanded a whopping 2.2 percent of the overall PC market.
