SHOOTOUT: Windows XP Pro versus Mac OS X both on the MacBook Pro

Bare Feats basically confirms what I suspected all along, but doesn't admit as much: Windows XP actually outperforms Mac OS X on the applications that matter (new games like DOOM 3 and even Photoshop CS, though the latter is not a universal application). What's astonishing is that the site comes away with some bizarre conclusions: "CPU intensive applications" apparently run better on Mac OS X, but one of the two they test is Apple's own iTunes, which is an absolute performance dog on XP. Meanwhile, three of the four "3D games" (Halo, UT2004, and Quake 3) they chose are quite archaic (i.e. at least two generations behind the current games) at this point; only DOOM 3 is truly a modern 3D game. Anyway, their conclusion is bizarre:
The main downside of "Boot Camp"? It's a little schizoid to have to reboot to use one OS or the other. When I want to get some real work done, I'll be using Mac OS X. When I want to play a game that isn't available for Mac OS or that runs poorly under Mac OS, I'll now be able to slither over to Windows XP.
Now that's unbiased.
